New dates for Glee 2024

Glee, renowned for uniting the garden retail community annually, is set to undergo a significant shift in its scheduling, aligning with market-wide feedback and insights. The confirmed new dates for Glee 2024 in September are strategically timed to coincide with the show’s 50th anniversary. The rescheduled dates, effective immediately, are Tuesday, 10th to Thursday, 12th September, held at the NEC, Birmingham.

This strategic decision to realign Glee’s timing emerged from extensive consultation with various steering groups and industry collaboration spanning months. The Glee team engaged with stakeholders ranging from small independent retailers to major multiples, contributing to the shaping of the show’s next chapter. Matthew Mein, Glee’s Event Director, emphasized the importance of staying connected with the evolving industry, stating, “Our industry is constantly evolving, and Glee plays an important part in shaping the future of garden retail – from the ideas shared on our stages through to the partnerships forged on the show floor.”

Boyd Douglas-Davies, Glee’s new Strategic Advisor, outlined the rationale behind the chosen September dates. He revealed that after a comprehensive review of the calendar, September emerged as the optimal month for both retailers and suppliers. Over 55% of Steering Group participants favored September, while June, the second most popular choice, garnered only 15%. The shift to September addresses concerns raised by retailers, such as a lack of price lists in June, enabling a more streamlined buying cycle.

Douglas-Davies explained, “The September timing allows for the industry as a whole to be ready, including those that export, with the show perfectly positioned at the natural close of one season, and with a new one on the horizon.” He highlighted logistical benefits, with quieter stores and term time for most schools, facilitating larger teams to attend Glee and engage with exhibitors and new products.

As Glee’s latest development gains industry buzz, Matthew Mein underscored the show’s commitment to responsiveness, stating, “The success of Glee is aligned wholly with having our finger on the pulse of our industry.” He expressed gratitude to those who shared their thoughts on Glee’s timings and participated in steering groups, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping the show’s next chapter.

Source Garden, known for its commitment to high quality and ethical responsibility, has also embraced the September dateline. The event, alongside Glee 2024, will return to the NEC, providing a platform for responsible suppliers, manufacturers, brands, and retailers. Source Garden, launched exclusively in 2023, focuses on key sectors like outdoor entertaining, garden tools, pets, and supply chain services, remaining a vital event for sourcing sustainable garden products.
