After successfully screening for Brown Patch last year, DLF conducted a global study on Grey Leaf Spot (GLS) resulting in an enhanced formulation for J Premier 4Turf 25. This mixture, now part of the 2024 lineup, incorporates varieties demonstrating heightened resistance to Brown Patch, GLS, and other common turf diseases. The updated blend introduces 5% Saila and 25% Fiesta 4, complementing the robust combination of perennial and tetraploid perennial ryegrasses. The result is the ultimate renovation mixture for football and rugby stadia, offering wear tolerance, visual appeal, and enhanced disease resistance.
Further enhancements in the winter sport range include updates to J Multi Sport, designed for sports and athletic fields, and cricket outfields, along with J Premier Pitch. The 2024 formulation of J Premier Pitch includes 20% Salia perennial ryegrass, contributing to enhanced visual appeal and wear tolerance, reinforcing its proven performance at numerous leading European stadia.
In the fine turf range, two new mixtures join Johnson’s lineup: J Sustain Fairway and J Ultrafine Rye 100. J Sustain Fairway is a high-performance, fine-turf formulation featuring 40% Hard Fescue and 15% Sheeps Fescue, providing a robust foundation of strength and tolerance to various turf stresses. Ideal for links and heathland venues, this mixture supports a sustainable, low-input management strategy, requiring fewer nutrients, water, and chemical inputs.
Catering to golf greens, tees, fairways, bowling greens, and tennis courts, the J Ultrafine Rye 100 combines four top-performing, fast-establishing perennial ryegrass cultivars. This results in a high-density, hard-wearing sward. These additions join an extensive list of improved fine-turf mixture formulations, including Johnsons J Fairway and J Rye Fairway.
