GKB Machines Secondary Drainage Solutions for White Horse Contractors

White Horse Contractors, a leading sports construction and maintenance company, reveals why they rely on GKB Machines secondary drainage solutions. Plant and Operations Manager, Mick Cross, anticipates a busy season after the wet winter, relying on GKB’s Drainmaster and Deep Tine Aerator (DTA) for effective solutions.

Having been early adopters of GKB equipment, White Horse Contractors boasts a fleet with some machines providing over 10 years of reliable service. Alongside two Drainmasters and the DTA, their substantial equipment lineup includes two Combinators and a Rotobrush from GKB. Mick, with over 30 years at White Horse, emphasizes the importance of time-effective solutions and build quality in their machinery selection.

The GKB Drainmaster, featuring 2 or 3 cutting wheels spaced at 50cm or 1m intervals, creates channels up to 23cm deep. Simultaneously filling these channels with sand results in a stable surface with improved, long-lasting drainage. Mick praises the Drainmaster for conducting multiple operations in a single pass, saving time and avoiding the need for multiple machines.

“We purchased our first Drainmaster in 2010, and a second one more recently, both in regular use between March and October,” says Mick. Last year, they completed work on over 20 pitches, including natural turf and hybrid pitches. The Drainmaster’s versatility extends beyond football pitches, finding application in polo grounds and racecourses due to its efficiency and robust build.

Mick underscores the reliability and toughness of the DTA, emphasizing its suitability for regular work on elite sports surfaces. He notes the scarcity of manufacturers offering products well-suited to contractor market requirements, highlighting their continued investment in GKB Machines.

With their eyes set on a busy year ahead, White Horse Contractors reaffirms the efficacy and durability of GKB’s equipment in meeting their demanding needs.
