Risebridge Golf Centre, renowned for its thriving 18-hole pay and play facilities, credits its continuous success to strategic investments, dedicated efforts from the greenkeeping team, and a longstanding partnership with equipment dealers George Browns Ltd. The recent addition of a new batch of maintenance equipment, including Baroness and Kubota brands, further enhances the extensive fleet already in use.
Head Greenkeeper Doug Mackison, leading a full-time team of four, highlights the pivotal role George Browns Ltd has played in elevating operations across the parkland course over the past four years. Mackison emphasizes the initial connection with Tim Mason, who provided crucial assistance with hire equipment before the center secured funding for investments.
Reflecting on the decision to adopt Baroness equipment, Mackison, with over 40 years in the industry, acknowledges, “Tim demonstrated how good the cut performance and build quality was, and it was on the back of this that we purchased a fleet of fairway mowers, greens and tees mowers, and a bunker rake. We’ve not looked back since!”
The fleet expanded with the addition of an L1-382 compact tractor, Z122R zero-turn mower, and RTVX-1440 from Kubota. The latest acquisitions in October 2023 include a Baroness GM2810 rough mower, LM531 fairway mower, and SP05 bunker rake. Mackison appreciates the intuitive operation of Kubota and Baroness equipment, noting, “They’re not all computerized; it’s very intuitive to operate, and you still feel in control of the job at hand.” He commends Luke Farrow from George Browns Ltd for his knowledge and assistance during the procurement process.
