Dobbies Launches National Community Initiative: Dobbies Community Gardens

Dobbies, the UK’s premier garden centre, is thrilled to introduce Dobbies Community Gardens, a nationwide initiative aimed at providing assistance to community and charity groups across the UK in transforming, restoring, or establishing their indoor or outdoor green spaces.

Dedicated to bringing joy to local communities, Dobbies is extending an invitation to anyone with a community space in need of gardening expertise and inspiration, whether indoors or outdoors, to reach out and apply, as applications are now officially open.

Passionate about gardens and plants, Dobbies’ colleagues are staunch advocates of garden living, fostering connections and camaraderie within communities all year round. Each Dobbies store will select a project to support from the nominations received. The chosen groups will receive a range of products, tools, and plants to breathe life into their community space during a personalized shopping session with a dedicated Dobbies colleague. Furthermore, volunteer hours will be allocated to assist in bringing the project to fruition.

Successful applicants will benefit from ongoing support throughout the year to ensure their indoor or outdoor space continues to thrive.

Nick Anderson, Dobbies’ Operations Director, is eager to hear from groups across the nation. He remarked: “There are so many brilliant community groups near our stores – from schools and nurseries, to In Bloom Groups and charities, and even local sports teams. Our store colleagues are ready to take on a fresh challenge for this year and we want to hear from groups right across the UK who would benefit from our support.

“If anyone knows of a community group that has a garden living project in need of our help, please encourage them to enter.”

Applications are now open, and participation is straightforward. Entrants must be situated within 20 miles of a Dobbies store or five miles of a little dobbies store. For more information on how to participate in Dobbies Community Gardens, visit the Dobbies Community Gardens webpage.

Nominated projects will be invited to their local store for a free Grow How session on Saturday 4 May, 10.30 am, where the winner will be announced. The winning team for each store will meet the Dobbies’ colleagues who will be supporting them throughout the project.
