Celebrate the Coronation with red, white and blue plants

British Garden Centres has announced a list of red, white and blue plants in store that they are recommending for planting in celebration of the King’s coronation on May 6th.

The plant buyers at British Garden Centres have developed the list to promote to the UK’s gardeners, novice and experienced to participate in some colourful and patriotic plant displays in all outdoor spaces this year. There has never been such a great time for gardeners to get involved in a national planting campaign. The coronation of King Charles is going to be a fantastic time for people to celebrate and show their support for the new monarch, a change that hasn’t happened in many people’s lifetimes.

Visit your local British Garden Centres plant area for our stunning red, white, and blue bedding ranges with specially selected packs of red, white, and blue petunias available for a stunning patriotic display to celebrate our new monarch. Other union jack-coloured plants will include trailing lobelias in red, white and blue as well as geraniums in red and white to make planters or hanging baskets right for a royal occasion.

Regal colourways will be available for gardens in the beautiful forms of bacopa, verbena, surfinia, ageratum and salvia and plant a flower bed with a patriotic splash of colour.  We also recommend favourites like fuchsias, impatiens and pansies for trailing hanging baskets that the King and Queen Consort would love.

Gold has long been associated with royalty and is synonymous with the crown, throne and the state coach so why not incorporate it into your bank holiday coronation display? Helichrysum is a showy plant with golden foliage and blooms which will spill gracefully over your container and hanging basket whilst lysimachia is an excellent golden ground cover in flower borders.

Garden parties, street events, and other festivities will be held across the country to commemorate this historic coronation, which will be celebrated with a second UK bank holiday weekend from May 5 to May 7.
