Bumblebees Big Boost From Johnsons Seeds

Johnsons Seeds has donated over £5,500 to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT), from sales of its Mixed Bumblebee Friendly Flower seeds during the 2020 season. 25p from each packet sold goes directly to the charity, whose mission is to increase the number and distribution of bumblebees.

Tessa Brooks, Fundraising Officer at the BBCT, said the Trust was delighted to be receiving the continued support from Johnsons Seeds and their customers. “A huge buzzy thank you to Johnsons Seeds for their latest, fantastic donation of £5,510 from sales of their Mixed bumblebee-friendly flower seeds! The money will help the Bumblebee Conservation Trust continue our work to help the UK’s rarest bumblebee species survive and thrive. We know that, by working with landowners to create and manage bumblebee-friendly flower habitat, rare bumblebee species return to areas where they have not been seen for several decades. We simply couldn’t do what we do without the support of businesses like Johnsons Seeds and their customers. Thank you!”

The varieties in the Mixed Bumblebee Friendly Flowers are a carefully selected and well-balanced combination of more than 25 annuals and perennials. These not only attract bumblebees but many other pollinating insects, and also provide colour in the garden right through the summer months.

Helen Clayton, Johnsons’ Brand Manager commented “We are so pleased that more gardeners than ever are taking such an interest in bumblebees and choosing to grow flowers that are beneficial to them”. For further information on the Bumblebee Conservation Trust log on to www.bumblebeeconservation.org
