Vivara reaffirms support to nature with headline sponsorship of Big Butterfly Count

Leading wildlife specialist, Vivara, has announced its continued support of wildlife charity, Butterfly Conservation, with the renewal of its headline sponsorship of the annual Big Butterfly Count.

The 2022 Big Butterfly Count will launch on Friday 15th July and run for three weeks. Throughout this period, participants are invited to spend 15 minutes outdoors counting the amount and type of butterflies they see, and then logging them as part of the survey via the free app or at  www.bigbutterflycount.org.

By taking part, people will be helping to assess the health of the environment and provide feedback on the number of butterflies found across the country. The campaign also aims to inspire people to help protect butterflies and other pollinators, which are declining in the UK with recent research revealing half of all British butterflies are now on the UK Red List of endangered species.

Sarah Hancocks, Marketing Manager for Vivara, commented: “We are so excited to be extending our partnership with Butterfly Conservation and our sponsorship of the Big Butterfly Count. We’re incredibly passionate about nature, and know that all types of wildlife, from birds and butterflies to bees and bugs, play a vital part in our ecosystem. That’s why we’re on a mission to help give parts of Britain back to nature and help restore the balance of biodiversity in back gardens across the country – the Count is a fantastic way of doing this and furthering research into, and support of, butterflies and endangered species. The Big Butterfly Count is a fantastic way of involving everyone – whether you have a big green space, a patio or a balcony, or even count at your local park”.

Dr Zoe Randle, Senior Surveys Officer at Butterfly Conservation, says: “We are incredibly grateful for Vivara’s continued support of the Big Butterfly Count. Taking part in the Big Butterfly Count is a small but crucial thing everyone can do. This information will not only help us to protect butterflies and moths, but also help to inform what effect the changing climate is having on our biodiversity.”

Earlier this year, Vivara launched a unique range of new wildlife garden kits designed to help gardeners give a corner of their green space back to wildlife.  Designed to fill a one metre by three metre space, the garden kits contain a handpicked array of plants which are beneficial and nutritional to wildlife, as well as a selection of feeders and shelters to help promote biodiversity on your doorstep.

The Butterfly Garden (usually £132.64 but currently on sale at £109.95) provides everything nature enthusiasts need to create a butterfly haven, making it perfect for beginners in gardening or those who simply want to invite more wildlife into their outdoor area.  It includes a Butterfly & Bee Box, a limited-edition Butterfly House, and a range of butterfly-friendly plants including Black-Eyed Susan, Lavender Hidcote, White Coneflower, Garden Catmint, Verbena Bonariensis and White Dwarf Buddleja.
