London, UK — The fifth edition of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers Kew The Run reached new heights this year, with over 5,500 runners completing the event, among them a surprise appearance from YouTube megastar KSI, taking on his first-ever half marathon.
The event was further elevated by KSI’s surprise debut over the half marathon distance. Known to many as a Britain’s Got Talent judge, as well as a multi-talented figure with successful careers in boxing and music, and boasting a social media following of over 40 million, he drew cheers from the crowds, completing the race in an impressive 1:50:02.
A total of 2,739 runners completed the Kew Gardens 10K, while 3,008 finishers crossed the line in the Kew Gardens Half Marathon—making this the biggest Kew The Run in its five-year history. Both races started and finished within the iconic setting of Kew Gardens, offering a unique and memorable race experience in one of London’s most celebrated locations.
At the front of the field, both races saw exceptional performances from elite athletes. In the Half Marathon, Ollie Garrod took victory in a rapid 1:11:17, while Rebecca Bunting secured the women’s title in an equally impressive 1:18:42, both delivering some of the fastest times in the event’s history. In the 10K, Jamie Ludlow claimed the men’s title in 32:39, while Katie Balme won the women’s race in 37:40.
The event race director hailed the day as a landmark moment for Kew The Run.
“This year’s event was truly unforgettable,” said Tom Bedford. “Welcoming record numbers is always special, but we also anticipate raising over £300,000 for a range of charities”.
As one of only two running events to take place inside Kew Gardens, the next opportunity to run within this iconic setting will be at the Richmond RUN-FEST on 12th–13th September. Early bird entries for the 2027 Kew The Run event are now open. The race will take place on 3rd and 4th April 2027, with runners able to sign up at www.run-fest.com.
