One consequence of lockdown has been the emergence of wildlife from the shadows. It started with goats wondering into the still, quiet streets of Llandudno. Now, The National Trust reports that it’s homes and gardens have had some unusual (and most welcome) visitors: peregrine falcons nesting at Corfe Castle in Dorset, a buzzard in a glasshouse at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk and badger cubs exploring Mount Stewart estate in Northern Ireland by daylight.
The Posh Shed Company has a range of superbly constructed and stylish accessories for the wild visitors in your own garden. Just as you would expect, from the company that put the posh into potting sheds.
A HAPPY HANGOUT FOR THE BATS
Bats are enigmatic animals that play an essential role in the biodiversity of the planet as both pollinators and “pest controllers”. If they’re visiting your garden, they’ll need a Posh Bat Box (£69 + P&P). This model is built to Bat Conservation Trust recommended specifications and designed to be draught free and thermally stable.
TO LET: HEDGEHOGS WANTED
Our hedgehog house will make a great addition to any garden, with its pull-out tunnel that makes a ramp to help the hedgehogs get in. Just put a few dried leaves or hay inside and leave in a shady place. Once the house is in use, we recommend a clean out in March/April and then again in September/October. Just remove the lid. The house is made from pressure treated timber and has a cedar roof. £75 + P&P
A BIRD’S PARADISE
These little bird boxes have a hole large enough for Sparrows, Great Tits, Nuthatches and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers. The lids remove for cleaning after the birds have moved on. There are six standard colours to choose from, from Posh Elephant to Dusky Rose. £26 plus P&P
