Home education packs from Life at No.27

Gardening therapy enterprise, Life at No.27 has launched a series of free downloadable resources for educating children at home during lockdown.

The popular activities, which are being updated weekly, have been created by the founder of Life at No.27, Annabelle Padwick, who runs regular gardening and wellbeing-based programmes within primary and secondary schools. Each downloadable activity links into the UK National Curriculum, making them ideal for parents and carers to use.

“More and more people are utilising their gardens during lockdown, which is great news for the environment and the gardening industry. It brings hope and reassurance that we as an industry can bounce back once the restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, it is important that we innovate and if we can, make resources and expertise available to as many people as possible at minimal cost.

“I have been working with schools for the past year incorporating gardening and the great outdoors with maths, science, literacy and art. I am pleased to be able to offer the free downloads to help parents and carers to engage our next generation of gardeners. The response to the resources has been incredible with many schools, clubs and parents getting involved and sharing the activities.”

Annabelle founded the social enterprise, Life at No.27 in 2019 to provide gardening and wellbeing-based therapy for children and adults struggling with low confidence, isolation and mental health illness. She is creating a bespoke allotment-based support network to help change lives across the country, accessible through self-referral, GP’s, psychiatrists and local councils.

In addition to her work with schools, Annabelle has written a book for children called You Can Grow Your Own Food, which aims to encourage and teach youngsters to grow edibles.

It’s packed full of fun gardening projects and guides on how to grow all kinds of fruit, vegetables and herbs outside and indoors, with plenty of space to scribble, draw, colour and track the progress of their growing adventures. The book is published by Harper Collins and, is available for pre-order now via Amazon, Waterstones and all other major bookshops ahead of its launch on 11th June 2020.
