Over £20,000 Donated to Support Children’s Hospice Garden Charity
GIMA (Garden Industry Manufacturers Association) has proudly revealed their outstanding fundraising total for Greenfingers, the charity responsible for creating therapeutic garden spaces in nearly 70 children’s hospices nationwide. In another year of commitment to this noble cause, GIMA has raised over £20,000 to support the charity’s essential work.
The remarkable fundraising achievement of £20,350 was made possible through a series of key initiatives, including the recent GIMA Awards. During this event, the Hozelock-sponsored table raffle and the More People-sponsored main raffle garnered over £4,750. Guests eagerly participated, bidding for the chance to win prizes like a sound bar or an Apple iPad. An additional £1,600 was added to the collection through a special auction held after the GIMA Awards judging day in July. Many participants in the 2023 awards generously donated their product samples to help raise much-needed funds.
This spirit of generosity was mirrored at the GIMA Golf Day in June, where an astonishing £14,000 was raised. A beloved tradition in the GIMA calendar, the golf day brought together 100 players and industry guests for a day of intense competition and fundraising, all in support of the Greenfingers Charity.
Jenny Douthwaite, GIMA President, who selected Greenfingers as the 2023 GIMA charity beneficiary, expressed her gratitude: “The work that the Greenfingers Charity undertake every day is incredible, with gardening at the heart of the magic it creates. Being able to shine a light on their work, bring together our members to raise essential funds and to show our ongoing support for the charity always makes for an action packed and thought-provoking calendar of events.
