A beautiful and well-groomed lawn is a matter of pride for the owner, but it will take a lot of effort to always look perfect. We want to share with you the secrets of lawn care, and your garden plot will always look 5+!
How to mow the lawn? Do not make a “hedgehog” out of the grass; you need to cut the plants so that the height of the remaining cover is at least 2.5 centimeters. If the lawn is high, less weeds and mosses will grow in it. The first haircut should take place at the end of April – May, regularity – 1-2 times a week (more often in summer, less often in autumn and spring).
Combing . The first combing is done at the end of April, when the ground is no longer wet. It is imperative to comb the lawn before each mowing – so weeds and shoots will not grow. For these purposes, a fan rake is used (for a large area – a scarifier).
Mowing a wet lawn . Experts do not recommend mowing a damp lawn, as the grass clumps and clumps of soil will stick to the mower. The easiest way is to lubricate its blades and lower part with sunflower oil, but do not forget to clean the unit after the procedure.
How to make the lawn thicker? To prevent the grass from leaning in one direction, it is advisable to mow the lawn in different directions – then the lawn will appear more luxuriant. If part of the grass is shaded, it is better to cut it higher there. Shaded plants need more area for photosynthesis than those in open areas.
Airing (aeration) . The soil of the lawn is often compacted, because it is heavily loaded. From time to time, you need to carry out such a procedure as aeration (enrich the soil with oxygen). The most commonly used technique is piercing. Attention: do this procedure 2-3 times per season using a special pitchfork or lawn rake. Loosening can be deep (up to 15 cm) or shallow.
