The New Downy Mildew Resistant Busy Lizzie This Much-loved Garden Favourite is Back!

You may remember back in 2012 our much-loved busy lizzie (Impatiens walleriana) had become very susceptible to outbreaks of downy mildew which resulted in this incredibly popular plant falling out of favour with so many of us.

Since then, much work has been done to breed a strain of the of the genus with a very high resistance to this damaging disease and Mr. Fothergills is now delighted to be offering the variety Beacon Mixed F1 for the first time.

All the attributes of the older types remain – strong and robust, easy to grow, incredibly floriferous with a long flowering time and perfect for sun or part-shade – but now without the risk of losing carefully nurtured plants to disease.

The Company’s Emilia Merola comments ‘We’re so pleased to have the busy lizzie back in our plant range – it performed brilliantly in our trials last summer and with no sign of the dreaded downy mildew’.

Mr. Fothergill’s is offering Impatiens Beacon Mixed F1 in two sizes – as Standard plug plants in trays of 40 plants priced at £13.95 or larger Garden Ready plants supplied in trays of 30 plants priced at £16.95.
Standard plug plants despatched from early early April. Garden Ready plants despatched from early June.
