Back to Black. Exclusive Viola from Johnsons

New for the coming season, Johnsons has announced it will be supplying the exclusive Viola Back to Black (RRP £2.35 for 100 seeds). The mini flowers are on small, compact plants. The petals are really jet-black and a beautiful foil for a bright yellow eye. They flower over a very long season and are the ideal choice for all baskets, patio containers and stunning bedding layouts.

To support Fleuroselect’s Year of the Nasturtium, Johnsons has also released Nasturtium Red Troika (RRP £2.35 for 25 seeds) to their range. They are a deep red variety with semi-trailing variegated leaves. They are ideal for mixed containers and summer borders.
Other outstanding plants include the light aroma Brachycome Blue Star (RRP £1.85 for 200 seeds). These are a half hardy annual chosen for its pretty star like flowers, they are a perfect partner to a sunny border or mixed planter. Cornflower Classic Magic (RRP £2.35 for 200 seeds) is a very unusual, tasteful blend of colours which make the perfect filler for a border or as a cut flower. For all summer long displays, Silene Blue Angel (RRP £1.85 for 1,000 seeds) provides dazzling electric blue flowers.

RHS AGM awarded Carrot Malbec F1 (RRP £3.05 for 350 seeds) leads the new varieties in the Johnsons 2019 vegetable range. It has showy red roots and fantastic flavour. It is the stand out carrot to grow. Helen Clayton, Johnsons Brand Manager comments “This was a real flavour hit on our trials last year. A really delicious variety, especially when roasted.” This new introduction also supports Fleuroselect’s other campaign – Year of the Carrot.

Cornflower Classic Magic

Two F1 additions finish off the new line up – Celery Hadrian F1 (RRP £2.35 for 200 seeds) is bred in the UK and selected for flavour. It has vibrant green stems and has a good disease resistance. Tomato Super Mama F1 (£2.35 for 10 seeds) is a full flavoured plum x beef tomato cross with a massive flavour. A large ‘Roma’ tomato, it is high yielding and fleshy, with fewer seeds. It is good for the perfect pasta, soups and salsas.
