Following a heated day of judging at a very hot Warwick Racecourse , approximately two hundred entries for the 2018 GIMA awards were examined. A final decision has been made on the winners of the prestigious accolade. However, the garden retail sector will have to wait a few more weeks to find out who the winners are, as this year’s winners won’t be revealed until July 12th at the stunning five-star retreat-the Celtic Manor Resort.
The 2018 GIMA judges had a tough time coming to a decision this year. With around two hundred products, services and campaigns battling to achieve the highly regarded title of GIMA award winner, there were some difficult decisions to be made. Added to this, it was with one of the hottest days of the year, definitely making it a day to remember. After much consideration the judges – Mike Cook (Choice Marketing), Colin Dale (Notcutts Garden Centres), Mairi Devlin (Wyevale Garden Centres), Mike Lind (Monkton Elm Garden Centre & GCA Chair), Caroline Linger (Crocus), Caroline Owen (Scotsdales Garden Centres) and Neil Pope (Garden Trade News) – made their final decisions on who will be going home with one of the 14 sought after trophies on July twelfth. Two further awards – the Export Achievement, and Supplier of the Year – have been judged by Gardenex and the GCA respectively.
GIMA Director, Vicky Nuttall said: “A huge thank you to all our judges for volunteering their time. Their input, keen eye and industry knowledge has helped us to create a final list of winners, and what a list it is! Each year the standard of entries continues to surpass expectation, so I did not envy the judges the task of picking the overall winners.
“I’d also like to extend my thanks to all those that have entered the awards in 2018. We look forward to welcoming you all to the awards ceremony in a few short weeks.”
Available spaces for the 2018 GIMA Awards are now in short supply so interested parties are encouraged to book their place as quickly as possible to avoid being left out. With celebrity host, Stephen Mangan, now confirmed, and the fine weather predicted to continue, it is sure to be a spectacular night of celebrations.
