Honda (UK) is looking forward to a summer of celebration to mark forty years of the brand making lawnmowers with appearances at a trio of RHS Flower Shows and the family favourite BBC Countryfile Live.

Visitors to the Honda stand will be able to get up close with a bit of history in the form of its very first lawnmower, the HR21, introduced in August 1978 – going on to sell 330,000 units globally in its first seven years on the market. In-keeping with Honda’s eternal thirst for innovation, the HR21 featured world-first technologies which no other manufacturer had thought possible, not least the Blade Brake Clutch, since renamed Rotostop®, allowing the blades to stop turning with the engine still running.

Wind forward to 2018 and that spirit of innovation remains still very much alive today. Leading the charge for Honda (UK) at this summer’s shows will be its all-new premium robotic lawnmower, Miimo 3000, now even more capable with maximum cutting area up to 4,000 square metres and controllable through a smartphone app.

Honda (UK) will also display its full range of lawn mowers and cordless and petrol handheld products, with expert advice on hand throughout for visitors wanting to know more.

Steve Morris, Head of Power Products for Honda (UK) comments: “We always look forward to the show season and welcoming customers old and new as they browse the showground, and we’re very pleased to continue our support of the RHS shows and the fantastic BBC Countryfile Live. This year we’re proud to mark forty years of Honda lawnmowers with a little bit of history in the form of where it all began with the HR21, which nicely mirrors where we are today with robotic models and a line-up packed with innovation and clever thinking.”
